Families and friends can play for years to come thanks to a pristine new park in beautiful and historic Cripple Creek.
To honor this community-changing play space, the Town of Cripple Creek will receive a Starburst Award from the Colorado Lottery at the 5K/10K Poker Walk/Run at the park on Friday, July 12 at 9:30 a.m. The $382,000 project, completed in March 2018, was made possible with $209,000 from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO).
The Mountain View Adventure Park has transformed a patch of land into an all-ages outdoor experience including a modern playground, a 2.5 mile trail, an 18-hole disc golf course, a BMX track, Dog Park, shelters and sledding area for year-round enjoyment. An average of 350 people visit the park monthly and it has added a much-needed amenity for under-served families in the community.
Since 1984, Teller County has received $2 million in Lottery proceeds, including more than $1.2 million from the Conservation Trust Fund and more than $752,000 from Great Outdoors Colorado.
The Colorado Lottery Starburst Awards recognize excellence in the use of Lottery proceeds in community projects implemented to enhance a community’s environment.

In FY2018 alone, the Lottery distributed $140.7 million in proceeds. Since its creation 36 years ago, the Lottery has returned more than $3.2 billion back into the state of Colorado. Lottery proceeds are distributed to three primary beneficiaries: GOCO, the Conservation Trust Fund, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife. These organizations provide grants and direct funding for parks, recreation, open space acquisition, trails, and wildlife and conservation education.
