Sean S. wins $1 million in St. Patrick’s Day Powerball Drawing!

Sean S. won $1,000,000 on Powerball on St. Patrick’s Day! Sean got the surprise of a lifetime when he checked his phone and saw a notification that he’d won big. His Powerball ticket for the March 17 drawing matched five numbers (11-18-23-38-60), just missing the Powerball, to win a $1 million prize.

The first people he told were his wife and dad. His wife’s reaction? “You’re messing with me.”

For Sean, his numbers hold special meaning. When his grandfather passed away in 2018, he had purchased a Quick Pick ticket just hours before. Since then, he’s used those same numbers every time he plays. He’s been playing the Lottery for 15 years, with Powerball, Mega Millions, Colorado Lotto+, and Scratch games among his favorites. Sean purchased his winning ticket at Winners Corner at 307 N. Main St. in Pueblo. 

Sean plans to invest most of his winnings to accelerate retirement but may splurge on some home improvements—and maybe even a new car. “A Corvette would be my favorite,” he said. “But since I have two kids, maybe just a new Tahoe. It’s functional.”
