5th highest Powerball jackpot reached $842.4 million

The Powerball jackpot climbed to a staggering $842.4 million ($425.2 million cash value) before being won by a single ticket sold in Michigan in the 2024 New Year’s Day drawing. That makes this the fifth-highest jackpot in the history of the game and the fourth Powerball jackpot to reach $700 million this calendar year!

A Colorado player has not won the Powerball jackpot since 2017, but 14 Coloradans took home $50,000 or more in December on Powerball, including two new millionaires!

  • The Double Play option is an additional $1 per play and offers a second chance to match your numbers in an additional drawing conducted immediately after each Powerball drawing.

  • Lottery games may be purchased using a debit card that is accepted by retailers (not all retailers accept debit cards). Lottery tickets can never be purchased with a credit card.
