The Colorado Lottery creates and sells games of chance in order to generate money for the state’s parks, recreation, open spaces and wildlife projects. Sounds pretty simple, right? But, as with most things, there is a lot happening behind the scenes that makes the simple infinitely more complicated. We design graphics and prize structures for the more than 50 Scratch games we produce each year. We reconcile hundreds of thousands of wagers for each Powerball, Lotto and Cash 5 drawing. We create advertising that is fun and creative, but still gets the message across that new games are on sale now. We work with more than 2,900 retailers across the state and ensure our high standards are being met and our players can conveniently buy our games. We work with winners to help them adjust to their new lives as millionaires. We are constantly vigilant to ensure our games and drawings meet the highest standards of integrity and security. Yes, there is a lot the Colorado Lottery does each day to bring a fun, quality product to you. But, we feel privileged that we get to do it every day. It is our version of playing in Colorado.
